POLLY ALICE is a poet, artist, author, and speaker. A professor of Art & English, she is also the founder and manager of FLYING KETCHUP PRESS. Her art and poetry have been shown internationally, most recently in Rattle magazine. As a Kansas City artist and art catalyst, she credits much of her creative work due to her research on Dreams and Imagination which won her the 2014 Ernest Hartmann award from Berkeley, CA. Her art combines oil painting and soft sculpture with imperfect stitching to demonstrate the beauty in imperfection. She uses found textile materials that prevent landfill waste. Polly graduated with her BA in Studio Art from Messiah University and her MFA in Writing for Kids and Young Adults from Hamline University. She says her favorite thing is to tell stories-- other people's, her own-- maybe yours.
